Power the Way for Education, Inc. Scholarship 2019

PURPOSE The funds will help students pay for their educational expenses. The amount of th scholarship is $500 per student and will be determined by the selection committee depending on the student's financial needs and the available funds. 


FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE We will provide financial educational awards to qualifying students. Power The Way For Education, Inc. does not issue nor provide loans.


SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS The Power the Way for Education, Inc. awards scholarships on the basis of a comprehensive process.  Areas that are reviewed by the committee include, but are not limited to the following: Academic Accomplishments, Community Service, References, Personal Essay and Financial Need.  Power the Way for Education, Inc. pays scholarship funds directly to the recipient. Power the Way for Education, Inc. awards without regard to race, color, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation.  Scholarships awarded are based upon the availability of funds and additional qualifying criteria.


CRITERIA: The following criteria will be used to select recipients of Power The Way For Education, Inc.


  1. 500 word essay on “Why do you want to be a linemen / lineperson.”

  2. Financial Need.

  3. Clear goals and initiative demonstrated through successful certification course completion, and essay.

  4. Family members of the Hanson Family founders of Power the Way for Education, Inc. and board member are ineligible to apply.

  5. Applicants must have a certified linemen training program.If scholarship money is awarded, this is the only program that will receive the funds on behalf of the applicant.


Our goal is to focus on the appreciation of linemen and linepersons as first responders to outages and making safety the first priority.  Individuals applying are encouraged to describe how they see themselves, their families, and their communities in the future.  The goal is to reflect a positive change in the future focused on safety in the utility industry both locally and nationally for individuals who put their lives on the line every day to provide utility services to others.

  • Candidates that are eligible for interviews will be notified by the Scholarship Committee

  • Applicants are notified if awarded a scholarship by the US Mail.



Application Process :




  • Completed application form.

  • Official high school transcript in a sealed envelope.

  • Applicant must provide a copy of their acceptance letter from line school, documentation showing at least 50% of completion a certified lineman training school, 3 different letters of references (1 – Family or Friend, 1- School, 1- Community Member).

  • Demonstrated financial need.



  • Award notification will be given by September

  • Award amounts will be distributed by Power the Way for Education, Inc.



Deadline for the application is June 1st , 2019. Applications postmarked after this date will not be considered.
